Update 2:54pm: Cameras should be back up and working now.
Update: Will our cams are still being worked on, I thought I’d update you on todays comings and goings. Both chicks have been on the nest, off the nest, on the nest, off the …you get the picture! Both currently back on the nest after some time sat in trees doing a bit of preening. Dad brought in a nice brown trout about lunchtime, which mum grabbed while she had the opportunity and flew off with it. She ate her fill and brought the rest back for the chicks to fight over. Both had a bite but seem peckish again, calling incessantly for dad to bring more lunch!
Off to work on the webcams again! Wish me luck!
Fiona
With the cameras back up and running after our wee power cut crisis overnight , we can only hope the birds show themselves on the nest early this morning to help you all with your withdrawal symptoms!
Both the chicks have certainly been very active over the last few days, constantly bouncing to and fro the nest on training flights, circling the loch, and even taking the odd run at the water- not seriously tryo9ng to catch anything yet, but probably practising judging distances, angles and speeds for successful strikes in the future. When they roost however, they are never far from the nest- most often in the trees opposite where they can be clearly seen from the hides- and always in easy reach if a parent with a fish does happen to appear on the nest. They are certainly vocal that’s for sure- this must surely be the nosiest time of the year on the nest!Emma Rawling

Does anybody else feel a little bit sorry for the fish?? Pulled from one set of talons to the other. It’s all action on the nest. Bet Lady is glad to be getting a break from the ‘terrible twosome’. Great view of the fish guts, by the way!! Also the massive talons and feet on the juvies. Only a few weeks ago they were inside the little eggs – nature sure is wonderful.
Marjorie, I did notice that it was still squirming, but I was so intent on each chick getting their fair share that I didn’t pay it due respect. Sorry fish, you’ve made a great contribution to the survival of our ospreys.
And another delivery! That one’s a good bit bigger, and it certainly caught the eye of the chick with the first fish, who tried to muscle in there. I’m getting confused as to who’s who. Can the team confirm who got which fish, or are you as confused as me? The main thing is that both chicks now have a meal.
Carolyn pet,,,,
I’ve just left you a reply to you asking me where I’ve been today,, it’s on the last page pet,,,,
Girl got the perch,, and then Lady came in with a lovely trout for our boy,, really made our girl jealous,, didn’t it,,,,
see you later I hope,,,

…..and I will NEVER be able to look at cam2 again when it wobbles like just now without imagining a troupe of elephants on the march!
Thanks for the great close-ups of the chick eating – is that Stephen at the helm? The way it’s demolishing the fish in double quick time makes me suspect that my first instinct was correct, and that’s gutsy girl.
On the other hand, it could be youngest chick, who’s really hungry! If so – good on you, mate, you held onto that fish! I have to admit that I was shouting at the first chick when she tried to muscle in on the second fish, “Leave it alone! You’ve got one!”
Julie i’m so , so sorry for getting names mixed up earlier, think my brain cells were being tumble dried :/ Just in and nice to catch up with afternoon events and well done Team for getting cams working again….. well done xx
Chrissy, thanks for the update – Like you I am so glad the young got the trout – and you are right about what you say or think about ‘Mrs Angry’ (chick1) she is a little madam at times. However, that could be just how ‘Lady’ was as a youngster, who knows
Oh I remember Lady as a youngun pet,, she is a Lady to be reconded with and has a lovley turn of phrase to go with it too,, I’ve always said to myself,, that any chick she produces,, the first words our of thier beaks would be swear words,, and it would be upto Daddy to draw them back to manners and decorrum,,,[spelling],
I love Lady dearly, to much infact, I suppose,, but she has been over her life a bit of a beautiful buster, and towards other intruding Ospreys she doesn’t take prisoners, ever,,,,

hi jeanette! i had the idea of somehow getting funds for our lotl ospreys. if some of the card profits will be returned to lowes then i will release copyrights to you. let me know ok? for printing cards you probably need the original, but i dropped my pen on it….but could send a very good cleaned up (in photoshop) copy to your street address. (be careful…dont put it in the blog)
What’s all the commotion up on the nest. Sounds as if someone is missing out on some grub?
….and when it comes down to it I’m really just a big baby and BADLY ;0) need feeding by my mum, says chick no.2 (?).
well, I guess I should have been more explanatory but I assumed everybodyelse was going to comment on the chick being fed by mum over several minutes so I didn’t say anythingelse…… sorry, don’t know whether this is still worth a monkey’s….
I commented upon the baby being fed by mum, so touching, it was lovely. Think my comment may be down the page as I just jotted time down. Later on in the evening or was it next day, I mentioned it!
Made a nice change, from the flying gut….to see baby boy and mum.
What a truly wonderful Mum The Lady is……she still feeds the chick when it begs food despite him having a fish of his own…..very touching and says it all really.
Just back from a wonderful day at LOTL—-with everything performing to order. Our ospreys flew around and shouted, all assorted birds present and correct and the red squirrels definitely played to the crowd. It was so nice to meet you Stephen and thank you for all that personal camera work—and good to see you again Nuphar. Pity you couldn’t join us for our picnic –the wine was chilled to perfection ( non alcoholic for me !! ) Hope to see you all again before migration but thank you all again.
cam 1 down again but cam2 is working, looks like mum and the youngsters are on the nest
6.13 pm Has anyone else lost cam 1?Just when three appear to be on nest.
the nest cam is off again. You prolly already know that though lol.
Ohhhh Noooooo, boo! hoo! cams down again, sniff, sniff.
Nest camera down – the screen is running through it’s repetoire (sp) but it’s like someone has put a black cloth over the lens
Thanks so very much for the updates Emma. Very helpful. I still am not able (for some reason) to see either cam. hmmmmmmm Not sure what’s going on but I really appreciate you, Emma, and all the bloggers for keeping me in the loop. I do need “fix” though. Went to YouTube last evening (thank you Alison) and watched some vids,of the nest. One, in particular, was one of the chicks flying over the Loch and practicing it’s skills around the water. Just AWESOME!!!!! So wonderful to see.
Anybody else still having cam problems??
HI Susan , we did have a few people in teh aerlier part of the season having problems, who solved them by refreshing their web browser softwear- give this a try adn see if it helps. Emma
OH no….Cam 1 is down. Can see some action in Cam 2. What are we ever going to do when they leave us?
Thanks Fiona for the latest up-date and for getting the cameras working again, It’s great to see our chicks but my cat Dazzle is getting really fed up with the screeching they make, he lies on the back of the couch opposite me and gives me a dirty look every now and again, I think he’s saying “not those blinking birds again”. Chick has just flown the nest so no more noise for a wee while, maybe Dazzle will come and sit beside me now,. LOL
Nest camera working again – a loose wire somewhere?
First of all well done to everyone (team and bloggers alike) for keeping everyone informed throughout the day. We wouldn’t even have this wonderful site without electricity, and yes we do take it very much for granted sometimes.
I have logged in during the day from work to read the blog, and found it very descriptive, Chrissy..your post about 4.15pm about the “skirmish” was just breathtaking, in that I read it all the way through as quickly as it seemed to be written lol.
Secondly, I too now have this image of a herd of elephants in the hide, every time the cam shakes, and I do have to laugh (outloud even)
Thirdly, well done for getting the cams to work again as it must have taken a lot of setting back up.
Lastly, but not least, I was sorry to hear about little Molly, my thoughts are with you in your feelings Julie.
Did anyone get a film of wild antics on the nest that Chrissy mentioned a few posts ago? It sounded like “The Three Stooges in Osprey Land.” I’d like to see it if it has been posted somewhere.
Which one is feeding now? Hopefully No 2, but hard to tell from rear vew only!
Hi Fiona
One of my friends wants to come on the walk on the 29th as well so can you book 2 of us in —- But not cheeky Dave from Leicester, who spotted my blog/bog typo. You wouldn’t think I had a background in editing would you? It’s late night ‘bLogging’ that scrambles the brain (and the typing).
Seen mum and chicks, fish delivery, and heard a lot of calling from somewhere near the nest.
Should mention, not just now, but at various times throughout the evening.
4:30 am your time, 8:30 pm my time….It looks like it is raining there but not much wind. That is a good thing. Hope it is a good fishing day and all the family members get something to eat. There is just a little light showing and it doesn’t look like there is anyone on the nest.
Re: the owls…every night it is the same thing, one ends up on the floor. Then you have to listen to the pitiful cries from so far away. I am amazed they are not hurt when they make that fall. Seems like someone needs to take a graveyard shift just to catch the falling fluff balls.
I’ve seen them fall, it’s the parents wings, which beat them off the ledge. Turn the sound off!
9.25 pm – 1 chick just landed on wet and drippy nest, cheeping away. Breakfast time Dad.
6:24 am It looks like mum is eating her fish in front of her youngster. She is not feeding him and is not sharing. At least I think it is mum, I don’t remember, however, seeing the white patch between the shoulderblades so maybe it is dad.
Susan
Just got home after a marathon session playing my accordion all afternoon at the local fair, and then most of the evening having a ceilidh at a friend’s house.
Its now nearly 1am here (7am with you). One of the youngsters is eating and it looks like its raining there just now. A damp driech morning.
Night Night from Manitoba.

Good morning all, hoping all is well at Lowes today and no power problems ensue.
Someone is eating on the nest but the camera is wet so cannot make out who!
Joyce Arnonld: Do you have an more fantastic sketches of our ospreys that you would like to include in our book, the one that you have done does look fabulous and I feel we could use one or two more if it is possible please?
i only did one shirley, sorry. i was inspired…
)
i also answered you another time (earlier or later than this comment…i am losing track
One of the chicks is eating a fish.
On a wet and misty day, it is quite poignant, to see a single Osprey on the nest, looking at the egg…
Morning one and all
, it’s another wet day and wonder if we will see the birds sitting on their nest or if they will take shelter under branches.
Watched the owlets for a bit last night and can you believe the wee rascal was missing again, I do hope with these falls it doesn’t end up breaking a leg as I don’t know how high the nesting box is but looks quite a drop.
Also watched some of the links others have given us, we truly are spoilt for choice what to watch as I also watched the Canadian bears for a bit when the cams were down
Was real sad to learn of the 500 penguins dead in Brazil, they think hunger, starvation as post mortom was done and their stomachs were empty, real sad to read it this morning, let’s hope others fair better
Hope today will be a good one for you.
Sorry too to read of our American friend losing her dog xx
Owlets:
I’ve phoned BOT and they have informed the farmer concerned, it will be put back once it’s had a check-over. It’s the parents wings, that send the little ones flying!!
Also mentioned the width of ledge, and they have plans and going to see what can be done about it.
17.52 last night, switched on for a minute, what a lovely sight, just like a few weeks back, Mum feeding her baby.
Have a good day everyone.
HI Eileen , I sent an email last night informing them about the owlet and mentioned the ledge as well. Received a nice emailbefore noon saying they had contacted the farmer and was having olwet checked over and to read the info about their boxesand hoped we were all enjoying watching their young family, I didn’t expect a reply and thought a lot of the staff for sending the email as i’m sure others must have contacted them as well. The owlets are just so cute but growing quickly too
this is still here?
